Global Industrial Issues: Special Economic Zones in India
Global Industrial Issues: Special Economic Zones in India India was one of the first in Asia to recognize the effectiveness of the Export Processing Zone (EPZ). The chief drawbacks of EPZ were multiplicity of controls and clearance, absence of world class infrastructure and instable fiscal regime. The Special Economic Zone Policy (SEZs) was announced in 2000 and it tried to look into the drawbacks of the EPZ policy. SEZs are engine for economic growth supported by quality infrastructure, attractive fiscal package and minimum possible regulations. The main objectives of the policy are: Generation of additional economic activity Promotion of exports of goods and services Promotion of investment from domestic and foreign sources Creation of employment opportunities Development of infrastructure facilities. The SEZ rules provide for Simplified procedures for development, operation and maintenance of the SEZs and for setting up units and conducting business in SEZs Single window clearance for setting up an SEZ Single window clearance for setting up a unit in a SEZ Single window clearance on matters relating to central as well as state Governments Simplified compliance procedures and documentation with an emphasis on self certification. Incentives and Facilities Offered to the SEZs: Duty free import/domestic procurement of goods development, operation and maintenance of SEZ units. 100% income tax exemption an export income for SEZ units for the first 5 years, 50% for the next 5 years thereafter, and 50% of the ploughed back export profit for the next five years. Exemption from minimum alternate tax, central sales tax and service tax. External commercial ______ by SEZ units up to US $ 500 million in a year without any maturity restriction through recognised banning channels. Single window clearance for central and state level approvals. Major Incentives and Facilities available to SEZ developers include: Exemption from customs/excise duties for development of SEZs for authorised operations approved by Board of Approval (BOA) Income tax exemption on export income for a block of 10 years in 15 years Exemption from minimum alternate tax, dividend distributors tax, Central Sales Tax and Service Tax. The SEZs trigger a large flow of foreign and domestic investment, resource utilisation and generate additional economic activity. Newly Industrialising Countries Newly Industrialising Countries (NICs) are those industries whose economics have not yet reached first world status but are more developed than their developing counter parts. The other characteristics of NICââ¬â¢s is rapid economic growth (usually export oriented), optimal resource utilisation, rapid pace of industrialisation and a pool of labourers. Hongkong, South Korea, Singapore, Taiwan rose to global prominence with rapid industrial growth since 1960ââ¬â¢s. This was possible with optimal resource utilisation. These countries can be considered as first generation of NICââ¬â¢s. Organisation of or Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and __ have helped in the development of NICââ¬â¢s. NICââ¬â¢s usually benefit from comparatively low labour costs and larger market. Currently the following countries are considered as NICââ¬â¢s China, India, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand (Asia) South Africa (Africa); Mexico (North America) Brazil (South America) and Turkey (Europe). Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development The organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (DECD) is an international organisation of thirty countries that accept the principles of representative democracy and free market economy. It originated in 1948 as Organisation for European Economic Cooperation (OEEC) and was reformed into organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development in 1961. The OECD covers all economic, environmental and social issues. It identifies common problems and good practice and coordinates domestic and international policies. The organisation collects data, monitors trends and forecasts economic developments. It also analysis the patterns in trade, environment, agriculture, technology, taxation and other areas the secretariat of OCED looks into entrepreneurship, fax policy, employment, labour, trade, agriculture, financial and enterprise affairs etc. The organisation further looks into the development of nuclear and energy resources. Most of the countries of Europe are part of it ââ¬â Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, United Kingdom etc. Besides it Japan and South Korea (Asia) and united states of America and Canada are also a member of OCED. G8: The Group of Eight (G8) is an international forum for the governments of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia, United Kingdom and United states. The concept of the forum for the world industrialised democracies emerged after the 1973 oil crisis and subsequent global recession. The G8 countries discuss the topics of labour, economic and social development, energy, environment, trade etc. The forum discusses the global issues in an informal manner. New Post W W II trends in Industrial Resource The post world II period observed many changes in the utilisation of resources for industrial development. Some of the following trends were observed: De industrialisation and restructuration as a result of changing industrial policies of linearization and globalisation. The phase of deindustrialisation and restructuration was followed by the renewed programmes and changes in location and structure of plants was observed. The plants were reallocated and many multi functional companies became more functional. The structure of industries shifted from fordism to Neo-fordism post fordism. The lower order industrial regions termed as dusters and complexes came into existence. These phenomena are the phase of rejuvenations in manufacturing systems. These are a result of newer innovations and technologies. Thus, the resource are utilised in a more appropriate manner. The improvements in means of transport and communication has encouraged the process of industrialisation. Further, the rational and planned formulative policy for manufacturing give rise to inter-national companies (MNCââ¬â¢s). The location and reallocation of resources and industries have created decongestion of industries and thus lower order clusters and complexes have come up in existence. These are well equipped with newer technologies. OCEDââ¬â¢s , NICââ¬â¢s, G8, BRICS, SEZââ¬â¢s have accelerated the process of resource allocation. Thus, the combination of spatial dispersal and global integration has created new centres as Highly concentred command points in the organisation of the world economy Key locations for finance and for specialised service firms Sites of production, including the production of innovation in these leading industries and Markets for the products and innovations produced. High Tech Manufacturing Development Foci: A number of specialised high technology centres (also termed as footloose industries) have developed in the world. These units are largely located nearer to universities and research institutions. Silicon Valley in California near Stanford Unweisily and ââ¬ËBoston Route 128ââ¬â¢ near Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) are one of the centres which have developed Many IT industries like IBM are engaged in research around here. Subsequently, the research and industry partnership hubs have developed all over the world-many countries of Europe, Japan, South Korea, Mexico, India etc. Foot loose industries are highly flexible and are largely dependent on highly literate young entrepreneurs, with little cash and space. The high tech industries are functionally discrete by nature and look into design, development and fabrication. The re-industrialisation restructures the national and economic landscape and there is a development of three lower order industrial developments. Industrial districts at a comparatively higher spatio functional level Flexible specialisation at international level _____ at local level. Utilisation of resources underwent a transformation with a change in the approach of establishment of industries and subsequently utilisation of resources. Neo-fordism evolved for the continently of fordist, labour process but post fordism stressed complete break. Global Industrialisation Related Problems: Globally, differential development of industries is observed. Thus, differences in utilisation is also observed imbalances are visible in developing and developed regions of the world. Different issues are observed in developed and developing countries. Some industrial products whose demands have been increasing since Industrial Revolution might now experience a decrease in demand. The growth rates are either stagnant or have decreased in the already developed regions which these rates have accelerated in the developing countries. Since mid 1970ââ¬â¢s the demand for many consumer goods have established in Developed countries because of the changes observed in population growth rate has become negligible. Besides, world recession, average personnel disposable income, changing technology, increased durability of the products are some of the factors responsible for the decrease in demands for industrial products in mid 1990ââ¬â¢s. Although, the demand for goods declined in 1990ââ¬â¢s but on the other hand, worldwide capacity has increased because of the following factors: The diffusion of industrial revolution and basic level of technology for commonly demanded items such as textiles, iron and steel, automobile, etc from developed to the less developed world. Increased output capacity by developed nations as a resuet of technological inventions and innovations and change in the structure of resource utilisation. The shifts of hubs of industries. The early concentration (followed by Industrial Revolution) was in UK in 19th century followed by USA, USSR; Germany and Japan. China, Mexico and Indonesia followed the above countries and the industrial production increased. In the 21st century many Asian countries (Newly Industrialising countries), South Africa (BRICS), Taiwan, Singapore and. Industrialisation plays an important role in national economy: Through industrialisation the country sustains itself and provides indigenous goods and products. Thus also helps in improving the economy of the nation. The process of industrialisation helps in promoting the development of essential infrastructure of a region. Thus, the process of industrialisation helps in developing the various pockets of the country. As the process of industrialisation proceeds various under-developed pockets also are benefitted as the diversification of industrialisation becomes more and more strong. The employment opportunities are generated. Thus, helps in improving the economy of the country. The resource exploration is done as per the needs and over exploitation can be avoided. On the other hand, industries can be developed in the resource endowed regions. Industrial Problems in Developed Countries: The largest challenge which the developed countries face is of change in structure of production ââ¬â from fordism to neo fordism and post fordism, enhanced cost of labour, decline in the market with new market areas developing and procurement of resources. Earlier the industrialised grants of the world relied on international market for their products as well as they procured the resources globally 20th century witnessed the development of industries in many other parts of the world. The competition of markets has led to the grouping of countries. Such as European Common Market (ECM) Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN), North American Free Trade Association (NAFTA), Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Etc. These grouping helped in reducing trade barriers and the hubs of industrial regions are adversely affected. The countries which industrialised early, immediately in the post industrial revolution era because of the advancement in innovations and technology procured the raw material from the countries which were devoid of it from late 19th century and beginning of 20th century these countries started developing industries in their own parts. Thus, the already existing industrial hubs suffered from the availability of resources. The early industrialised countries suffered a setback of accelerating cost of labour. This was largely because of the low population availability. This promoted the change in structure of industries. Multinational companies came in instead of integrated industries. The multinational corporations helped in deindustrialisation and reindustrialisation. This helped in the development of new regions and few aheady industrialisation regions suffered a setback. Industrial Problems in Developing Countries: The problems of the developing are largely related to the availability of capital, latest technology, adequate infrastructure and proper management skills. These countries have entered the production late and are still in the infancy stage. Largely the developing countries are in there infancy stage and thus are facing problems of technological advancement and Automations and application of upgraded technology is essential for the increase in the production. The developing countries are not well equipped with trained managers, professionals and other supporting staff. This restricts the optimum utilisation of resources. Lack of basic infrastructure and amenities is another major constraint of the developing countries. Many developing countries are accelerating the process of industrialisation and ignoring the proper controls towards environmental protection which can harm human ecology. Industrial Problems in under developed Countries: Capital scarcity, poor labour asset, lack of latest technology and automation political instability economic recession and under developed infrastructure are some of the problems faced by under developed countries.

Internet Advertising (Web Advertising) :: BTEC Business Marketing GCSE Coursework
Web Advertising It is questionable whether advertising on the Web is effective, researchers say. According to Natia Enligh and Michael Pierce, authors of ââ¬Å"Advertising on the Web,â⬠the Web has the ability to deliver a flow of information. ââ¬Å"For advertisers especially, the Web has enormous potential, mainly because of its vast size and global reach. Today marketers and advertisers are wondering just how they can use the Web to have the greatest impact on consumers.â⬠Advertising on the Web is effective because it offers an extensive amount of information and is interactive. ââ¬Å"Consumers can control the type of volume of information they get, in real time and with minimal effort. The Web has excellent potential to target common-interest groups nationally or across the world,â⬠write Enligh and Pierce. Forrester Research Inc. of Cambridge, Mass. says because of the high cost of computers and Internet access, households that are on-line are more educated and have higher income levels than average ones. ââ¬Å"Home Web users spend about four hours a week on-line. This means that they spend less time on other activities, particularly watching television. As a result, marketing strategies must integrate more mediums if they are to deliver a consistent message.â⬠According to ââ¬Å"Effective Internet Advertising Techniques,â⬠(http://afgen.com/techniques.htm), these are some techniques to use when advertising on the Internet: â⬠¢ Attract your reader with a catchy word or phrase right up front. â⬠¢ Study other classifieds. If you see them repeatedly its because they work. â⬠¢ Keep your classifieds brief and to the point, using phrases, not complete sketches. â⬠¢ Use simple words, not long ones. Donââ¬â¢t confuse the reader. â⬠¢ Tell the reader exactly what they are getting. â⬠¢ Donââ¬â¢t try to sell the product in a classified. Simply try to get interested people to respond. â⬠¢ Use energetic punctuation, such as exclamation points instead of periods. The Internet is Different Some experts believe reaching a younger target audience is effective for advertising on the Internet. ââ¬Å"There are some sections of the population, such as young people and hobbyists, that you cannot reach with conventional media or whom it would be too expensive to reach with TV. The Internet is good mean to seek out niches,â⬠says Andrew Rolf, creative director of Internet consultancy Hyperlink Interactive. (The Financial Times Limited-London) On-line advertising works differently than other mediums. Customers are in charge; they have control of the ââ¬Å"Backâ⬠button.

Fashions Influence Essay
Fashion is a popular thing for a period of time. It keeps changing and developing. Fashion and trend are very similar however fashion is almost always related with the way people dress. Trends are related more with technology and such. When asked the question ââ¬ËWhat is fashion?ââ¬â¢ globally known model, icon and business woman Claudia Schiffer replies with ââ¬ËItââ¬â¢s become synonymous with clothing but ultimately fashion is anything popular in a culture at any given time.ââ¬â¢ The same question was asked to Pulitzer prize winning fashion writer Robin Givhan and she replies with ââ¬ËFor me, fashion is the way we choose to present ourselves in the public square. It captures whether or not we choose to be on the trend, but also addresses those people who have a belligerence towards fashion and are very stern in the announcing of their lack of interest in the subject.ââ¬â¢ see more:why fashion is important Also head of the iconic Prada fashion conglomerate, Miuccia Prada, says one element of fashion is so simple itââ¬â¢s often overlooked: ââ¬ËFashion is the ï ¬ rst step out of poverty. You have nothing and then you put something on. It is one of the ï ¬ rst things you do to elevate yourself. Why are people scandalized by spending money on clothes? Everybody is so passionate about this, thereââ¬â¢s a resistance to fashion, an idea that to love fashion is to be stupid. Clothes are very intimate. When you get dressed, you are making public your idea about yourself, and I think that embarrasses people.ââ¬â¢ The common idea here is that fashion is a way of self-expression. Fashion is very important because it is mean of self-expression, enabling us to say something important to the world about who we are, what we want and about whom we want to be. The clothes we wear say things about us whether we want it or not. It addresses to the human need to belong, to identify ourselves with a group of others like us. It can be a lifestyle, a religion, a profession, or an attitude. For example there are terms in society, which refers to a particular group of profession and their stereotyped clothing such as white-collar worker. A white-collar worker is someone who performs managerial, professional or administrative work. Typically they work in office or cubicles. And then there are blue-collar workers whose job requires manual labor. Clothes show a lot about us, maybe even more than we think. There are prejudices and stereotypes about them, which are usually true since stereotypes are there for a reason. Fashion and trends also show our socio economic level. For example if one is wearing a $15000 suit with a Rolex on his arm you would automatically assume he is someone important. There are some indicators for this in the eyes of society; in this case it was the watch he was wearing. One of the biggest indicators is the phone he is using. Especially in our country there are millions of people who barely afford feeding their kids but they buy phones that are worth 4 months of their salary. Fashion and trends are important in the eyes of people since others form a profile of us at first sight. First impression is really important and these are what makes other people think you are some kind of a ââ¬Ëbig shotââ¬â¢. Some companies abuse this need of self-expression. Once fashion was movie stars and models wearing haute couture on glossy magazine covers. People saved money and shopped once or twice a year for high-quality clothes that could be worn for many seasons. However in todays world fashion is changing very fast and it is cheap thanks to retail brands such as H&M, Zara. Fashion is more accessible than ever. But is it a good thing? Researches show otherwise. The average price of clothing has dropped vastly in the past decades and cheap clothing is branded such that it is no longer seen as a lack of fashion. Rather it is called ââ¬Ëstreet fashionââ¬â¢. However the demand raises everyday and this created a huge waste. For example US writer Elizabeth Cline says: ââ¬ËThen one day came the epiphany. In a supermarket sale, I ended up buying seven pairs of identical canvas flats marked down from $15 to $7.ââ¬â¢ She also explains perfectly how this ruins the whole fashion=a mean of self-expression thing: ââ¬ËBuying so much clothing, and treating it as if it is disposable, is putting a huge toll on the environment and is simply unsustainable,â⬠she writes. Whatââ¬â¢s more, cheap clothing destroys our relationship with our self-image. Fashion should be flexible and reflect personal taste. But global chains are trying to reduce risk by selling the same carefully packaged trends. These trends ââ¬Å"are repeated on the racks of virtually every retailer, making our store-bought looks feel homogenous and generic.ââ¬â¢ There was a time when the concept of fashion was only in the occasions.à Teenagers today care a lot about fashion. Maybe more than what should be. Fashion reflects a lot in the school students. The bags they carry, the watches they wear and such. Teenagers seem to be more in to fashion than the adults. In the old times fashion was something for the upper class but as mentioned above now it is not the case. Class doesnââ¬â¢t matter in any way for becoming fashionable. Nowadays being fashion conscious makes you popular among your friends an also boosts your self-confidence. Especially teens are so concerned with fashion that they do not spend enough time doing productive stuff; instead they read fashion magazines. In the past teens went out with their parents in the weekends. Nowadays they go out with their friends and most favorable place to go out is a shopping mall since they can do a lot of shopping there apart from having actual fun. Again in the past children used to dream becoming a scientist, an astronaut, a doctor, an engineer but the priority changed for the teenager of todayââ¬â¢s world. Most of them desire being in the glamour world. They find fashion world better than any other profession. In fact one that is not fashion conscious these days donââ¬â¢t get much attention. One who appears trendy in the first appearance takes away all the light. The reason of this is mainly peer pressure. Many teens are concerned about trends in an effort to dodge a possible humiliation and mocking from the peers. Poor fashion choices are often a reason for mockery. Teens today feel the need of being a part of a group and the easiest way to do so is to match their clothing code. Fashion becomes an essential accessory for a teenagerââ¬â¢s popularity. Referring to a survey of 47 people asking whether they think importance of fashion and trends to teens is excessive or not 36 of them answered by saying that it is excessive. This causes problems such as less time spent on beneficiary work and more time spent on keeping up with the trends. Also since fashion became cheaper and more accessible a vast amount of waste comes with it. In conclusion fashion and trends are extremely important for teens even though it should not be. As said by the famous designer Yves Saint-Laurent: ââ¬ËFashions fade, style is eternal.ââ¬â¢ SOURCES: Pru, Laura. ââ¬ËPressure on teens to wear fashionable clothesââ¬â¢ eHow LaGrave, Katherine. ââ¬ËFashion: Why is it important?ââ¬â¢ Huffington Post 06/04/2012 Shah, Vika. ââ¬ËThe role of fashion in human cultureââ¬â¢ Thought Economics 09/15/2012 Meetehariyani, ââ¬ËThe importance of style and fashionââ¬â¢ StudyMode March 2012 Aeysha, Mona. ââ¬ËThe Effect of Fashion on Teenagers in Schoolââ¬â¢ Self Growth Peacock, John. ââ¬ËFashion since 1900 : the complete sourcebookââ¬â¢ London, Thames&Hudson 2007: Priny Seeling, Charlotte. ââ¬ËFashion: The Century of the designer 1900-1969ââ¬â¢ Cologne,Germany Kà ¶nemann 2000: Print

In the story the bear and the daughter got married, this is a in truth straightforward point shown that Native Americans exhaustively believed in the relationship in the midst of adult male and animals. Finally, the last value powerfully correspond throughout the myths is the aspects ot self-reliance and allegiance. This is wiz ot the only aspects that in a carriage was penalize in each of the myths. In When the Grizzlies Walked Upright the set out Bear makes a true-blue decision to send one and o nly(a) of the grizzlies to enjoin the Chief where the daughter was, so she sent her eldest randson in a confuse to the top of Mount Shasta to tell the spirit tribal boss where he could settle his long- mixed-up daughter. The Mother Bear was so loyal to the chief that even knowing the chief would be rather angered, a hoar was still sent to spread sensation of the lost daughter. The tale of The Navajo Origin legend shows boldness, even though it may not bet at first. In the story the population are practicing a ceremonial where the the great unwashed have to trust their elders, in that locationfore they told the people to stand at a outdistance and allow the wind to enter. The people have to trust the elders nd hark to them in ordering for the ceremony to mold properly. But like what was stated, all stories give off the customary idea that everyone should accept the values of trust and loyalty. Such how in the Iroquois brass all of the states have to have trust in the constitution and pay loyalty to one another. In The Earth on Turtles Back the animals have to have trust in each other that one of the animals will in fact transport up the Earth. In conclusion, it is easily seen that there are several aspects and values that the Native Americans want people to accept and live by.By reading these myths and stories, it really does give us an in-depth idea of how the Native American people wanted people to act and do by one another. In al closely every tale ever told by the Native Americans there is something to take from it, the Native Americans truly wanted everyone in this founding to be good, genuine people. Although there are so many aspect presented by these people, its sternly to single out which are considered the most important. From reading the stories though, one can conclude that the three briny aspects given to us involve love and friendship, the relationship betweenValues and Morals through Native American Myths and TalesThrough out all forms of Native American tales and myths we see many values and aspects portrayed by the Native American people. In the myths that are read, the reader can easily pick off and single off values that the Native American people truly saw were thoroughly important in their time and society. The Native American people believed in many aspects which were usually considered important values for people to possess. The thing about Native American myths and tales that is found astonishing is the fact that these stories are most likely improbable but regardless of that, these stories still depict great human qualities that everyone should have. Native American myths capture the culture and values of the society in which it was produced with the morals involving love and friendship, the relationship between humans and animals and trust and loyalty.Firstly, in opinion one of the biggest values told by the Native Americans has indeed have to be love and friendship. There are several appe arances of these two morals throughout the myths, this indicates that the Native Americans did in fact see these values as quite important. Right off the bat, we see in the first story The Earth on Turtles Back the animals in the story see the women and promptly try to care for and make sure enough the women is safe, We must do something to help her this shows sanely of a base for the love the animals glint toward the women. As the story progresses we also see quotes such as, Look, she doesnt have webbed feet. I dont conceive she can live in the water. This is also another form showing love and friendship because Native Americans are extremely caring toward one another, even if that life-time form isnt even of the same species. Also in the myth Iroquois Constitution we see quotes such as, Your heart shall be filled with peace and good will and your mind filled with yearning for the welfare of the people of the confederacy. If Native Americans pledge to live peacefully and beco me a part of the confederacy they will have unity, or friendship with each other. On the other hand, love and friendship are not the only values truly seen in these myths, another big one would have to be the relationship between humans and animals.Relating back to the tale The Earth on Turtles Back it is easily seen that there is a strong relationship between the animals and the human. I have heard that there isEarth far below the waters. If we dive down and bring up Earth, she will have a place to stand. This shows how the animals saw how helpless the women was and knew they had to help her. Also in the tale When Grizzlies walked Upright the daughter of the sky chief accidently gets caught up with the grizzlies and the Mother Grizzly watches out for and protects the daughter. Also as the story advances the daughter actually marries one of the grizzlies, When she became a young woman she and the eldest son of the grizzly bears were married. In the story the bear and the daughter got married, this is a very straightforward point shown that Native Americans thoroughly believed in the relationship between humans and animals. Finally, the last value strongly represented throughout the myths is the aspects of trust and loyalty. This is one of the only aspects that in a way was executed in each of the myths. In When the Grizzlies Walked Upright the Mother Bear makes a loyal decision to send one of the grizzlies to tell the Chief where the daughter was, Then she sent her eldest grandson in a cloud to the top of Mount Shasta to tell the spirit chief where he could find his long-lost daughter. The Mother Bear was so loyal to the chief that even knowing the chief would be rather angered, a grizzly was still sent to spread awareness of the lost daughter. The tale of The Navajo Origin Legend shows trust, even though it may not seem at first. In the story the people are practicing a ceremony where the people have to trust their elders, Then they told the people to stand at a distance and allow the wind to enter. The people have to trust the elders and listen to them in order for the ceremony to work properly. But like what was stated, all stories give off the general idea that everyone should accept the values of trust and loyalty. Such how in the Iroquois Constitution all of the states have to have trust in the constitution and pay loyalty to one another. In The Earth on Turtles Back the animals have to have trust in each other that one of the animals will in fact bring up the Earth. In conclusion, it is easily seen that there are several aspects and values that the Native Americans want people to accept and live by.
